We have been visiting The Gold Balance for the past 6yrs, every Thursday night for the curry night, l think over this period we have missed about 6 weeks due to holidays. The food is good and Jed, the chef, is very good as is the staff, all very professional in what they do . We really do enjoy our evening out, apart from, the fact that you have taken off the sticky toffee pudding off the menu, we are devasted as we loved this sweet, please bring it back to the menu please confirm you are going to put it back onto the menu. Lack of staff. ..lack of options at the bar from what it states in the menu (for food ...wrong orders from staff and ordered food not being served thus resulting in asking for monies back. No authority or leadership I feel runs this money making part of the WSPNS chain..
It's a great local Wetherspoons with friendly staff and good food in a nice clean environment. It can get a bit noisy at times, but that's part of the atmosphere. It's truly sad to see it closing down, as every good town deserves a Wetherspoons, and we're losing ours.
Great value for the price! It's more of a spot for a quick bite, and that's about it. The place is usually quite busy, creating a lively atmosphere.

Full of junkies and fighting. Used to be a lovely family place, wouldn't even take my friends here anymore, let alone my children!
An average drinking establishment with an average selection of ales. The carpet looks like it could do with a clean though.
If you like JDs then this is a friendly atmospheric one to visit. The usual selection of great beer available!
Good pub food, probably one of the best whetherspoons for quality of food.
