Incredible bacon Butty and cake to finish with the most delightful flat white I've ever tasted, extremely friendly staff who held fantastic conversation throughout without being intrusive. I came back for for the 14 hour Braised beef and Ale pie later on and all I can say is it was the greatest Pie I've ever had in my life (and I've had a few pies) packed with meat and a perfect balance of flavors. Absolute Gem of a place with lovely rustic decor, you must visit this place if in the area!
THE BEST PIE AROUND! HANDS DOWN. We visited as a family last Saturday to Ambleside and the cafe took our fancy. WOW is the word, incredible pie, mash, peas and delicious gravy. Also to top it off they had a lovely selection of cakes, I can highly recommend the salted caramel scotch egg and Mr Duffins coffee along side. What a combo, pie, cakes and coffee. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be returning the the cafe again as a family for sure. 10/10
Purchased a couple of the Braised Beef Ale pies to try on our return from our Ambelside holiday and boy they went down a treat with some chips , peas gravy , a right Northern gourmet meal. Pastry was smooth and buttery , the filling did not disappoint wholesome and very tasty. A bit expensive for a pie but then try the other end of the scale with a Hollands pie full of nothing at all and inedible rubbery pastry. Will deffo try their other pies.
We went to visit the cafe on the recommendation of the fabulous pies they are known for. The pie, mash, peas and gravy were absolutely delicious. However, they've a new pull which is the coffee, quite simply the best I've had in the lakes, Mr Duffins based locally in Stavely, the addition of cakes make this place a must visit for the casual food and coffee lover. Amazing cakes ! Best Rocky Road I've ever tasted Coffee was incredible Staff went above and beyond to serve us and made sure we were OK. Very much appreciated x Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area you won't be disappointed!! Cake and Coffee to die for !! Xx
It was a brilliant experience, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly. We tried both the steak ale pie and the cheese onion pie. Both were fantastic. I also had a nice IPA with the pie as well. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy great pies.
We got the Brisket Ale pie and chips, was perfect temperature. The garden in the middle of the complex was a nice touch to eat the pies plus the sun was out.
