Came to Greens for my wedding anniversary with my husband. This cute restaurant is right on the water and was easily accessible by bus. When we arrived we did have to wait for our table for ~5minutes even though we had a reservation. It was no big deal as staff was pretty friendly. We ordered cocktails at the table and had appetizers, main, and dessert. I can't remember everythings name and when I went to cross check with the menu looks like it has already changed from a week ago. We started with broccolini and sweet potato cakes. Both of these were interesting but I loved the broccolini and could have eaten 3 plates of just that. For our mains, my husband got tofu skewers and I got a noodle...

Fortunately, the waitress who attended to me was much friendlier. I ordered two small plates: spring rolls and a potato dish, along with a cup of Rare Earl Grey tea. The tea was lackluster—acceptable, but it didn’t have a distinct bergamot flavor, and I regretted spending $6 on what tasted like vaguely flavored hot water. The potatoes, however, were absolutely delightful—tender and dressed with butter and herbs, though they could have used more salt. It’s important to season food while cooking; adding salt afterwards doesn't have the same effect. On the other hand, the spring rolls were a disappointment. They were presented in a trendy New York style, with one roll sliced into six disks a...
In the past, I fondly remember a daily menu that showcased the freshest market offerings. Now, they seem to rely on a limited monthly menu that features tofu quite heavily. Tonight, we began with a cup of soup that was overly salted. I then ordered the pear salad, but please don’t try to convince me it was made with Green Gulch lettuces; it was a wilted, overdressed salad with an odd addition of lentils that tasted like it came from a bag at the Safeway across the street. My husband ordered the eggplant, served in a small casserole dish and piled with zucchini, which resembled something from a Stouffer's box. The beautiful presentation we once cherished has disappeared. I couldn’t even fini...
The ambience and service here are both amazing, we weren't able to get a table right up against the glass overlooking the dock and the sunset, but we were seated with no weight, despite it being dinner time and very busy. Our server was super nice and attentive, I had the mint iced tea and my friend had a beer, the tea was delicious. To eat we got the chanterelle pizza and pasta i can't remember the name of but it was creamy with rigatoni. The plates were good, i loved the crispy thinness of the pizza and depth of flavor but i was a little underwhelmed by the pasta. The prices were typical Bay Area expensive plates for regular dishes but the setting felt fancy and classy. I had a nice time t... Book a table now
Great food , great service, small but very interesting wine list for lunch . Highly recommend this venerable institution... Great options for vegetarian friends of course ! Views from Fort Mason are really nice, so great as well for out of town tourist friends. Did I mention super friendly staff -and management Hi Emily ? Ask any question e.g. why do they also sell the Tassajara bread book? : they will answer with great stories. Bonus: when there is a street fair of some sort or farmers marker ? is in attendance in Fort Mason... : Parking is typically easily available inside Fort Mason parking but not cheap unless the space is taken over by said fair.
As a longtime vegetarian from an area with limited options, I had high hopes for Greens due to its great reputation. The kale and apple salad was prepared well, but it lacked seasoning; it needed salt, vinegar, or a splash of lemon to give it more flavor. Overall, it tasted quite bland. The cauliflower quesadilla was decent, but it felt uninspired. There are so many vibrant herbs and spices out there, and I didn't encounter any in my meal. Perhaps it was just the dishes I selected, but I have my doubts.
Unique gem of the city of SFO, vegetarian’s delight but don’t limit yourself if you like meat, the place just rocks anyway. Service, ambience and food combo is one of the best on the west coast Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
