The Historical Society is a delightful little spot in Cos Cob. I really enjoy the mini farmer's market on Wednesdays during the warmer months, and there are always engaging and fun events happening. The gift shop is a true treasure; I've discovered many wonderful gifts and lovely items there. It's an ideal place for Christmas shopping (and they even offer free gift wrapping!), but their selection is fantastic throughout the year. The staff is always incredibly friendly and knowledgeable as well.

The grounds are lovely but the fillies was didactic. Also, way too much time on the artists colony. Way too little on the colonial period. There are far better places to view Impressionism, very few better than New England to view colonial history.
We attended an absolutely charming wedding brunch in the barn of the Historical Society. The grounds are beautiful and the space was cozy and perfect for the occasion. The staff was pleasant and worked hard to make the meal tasty and welcoming.
