Gubel - Table reservation

Maggie Odermatt (front of the house, formerly in charge of service at the cult restaurant Kaiser Franz in Zug) and Lydia Michel (who used to run another excursion restaurant) have given the Gubel a new lease of life! Situated above the fog that covers Zug for long stretches of the year, they have re opened the restaurant and are targeting day trippers, walkers, people looking for some sun shine over the clouds. Food is traditional Swiss specialties (Poulet im Choerbli, Aelplermagronen), impeccably executed, as a well deserved reward after some leisurely hiking. A carefully selected wine card (with emphasis on Switzerland, Italy, Spain) makes dining in one of the oldest restaurants in Central...

Gubelplättli, Gubelbrot, Füürwehr Chillifondue, Erdöpfel, Weisswein Chateau D‘Alleman, Kirsch hatten wir zu viert ausnahmslos in wirklich sehr guter und frischer Qualität....und das Alles an einem Abend im Nebel, wo Aussicht nicht die geringste Rolle spielte.Ohne dass wir es wussten, hatte der Chef unsere Reservierung angenommen, obwohlder Gasthof obligatorisch an diesem Abend gar nicht geöffnet gewesen wäre.Küchenchef, Service und Gastgeber empfanden wir sehr gastfreundlich.Wir werden ganz bestimmt wiederkommen, mit oder ohne Aussicht !

Relaxing glass of wine and plate of chips after a afternoon hike up the hill. Very nice end to a lovely afternoon out walking with friends. Very polite and fredndly reception on arrival and very accommodating since it was a busy Saturday night.

Für uns insgesamt unfreundlicher, ungenügender, sprich überteuerter Service. Preis-Leistung stimmt in keinem Masse. Eigentlich schade der Lage wegen!
