I thought it was good. We were a group of three and relatively dark skin (we are hispanic). We first had a nice participant who was turned to another. She was also nice, but the server didn't get her name, gave us no napkins until we asked for the food and even gave us what seemed like paper towels from the bathroom (two of us had gone to the bathroom earlier. For comparison, one of our group members noticed that they were another large group of (here apparently white young people at the table right next to us normal napkins directly when they were served and was very attentive to other tables (including the above). We wanted to brush it off, but at the bill they did not mention the details...
Atmosphere Customer Service are 5 star. There were 9 people in my party and all the staff who took care of us were outstanding. So why the 4 star rating? I had the pleasure of eating at two different Mexican restaurants in three days. Hacienda on the Lake in Mission Viejo was the second. The Lake view was beautiful, the Service was great, but the food did not come close to what I have experienced in other Mexican restaurants. I discovered this restaurant during the height of the pandemic when dining out wasn’t an option. I had ordered the Chile Verde plate, and I was pleasantly surprised by how moist the meat was and how flavorful the sauce tasted, even with delivery. I couldn’t help but wonder how much better it would be in the restaurant itself. I loved the food so much that I was excited to try it again once restaurants reopened. My husband and I finally visited, and it was even better fresh! The guacamole was made to order and absolutely delicious. The rice was fluffy and perfectly seasoned, and the meat was tender, moist, and well-seasoned.
The location is fantastic, with a spacious terrace offering a lovely view of the lake while you dine. We visited for Taco Tuesday, which requires you to order a drink to take advantage of the special. We also tried the Fajitas, but we found the portion size to be smaller than what we’ve experienced at other Mexican restaurants. Additionally, they only had three beers on draft, which was a bit disappointing.

This is the place to go if you want a nice view and atmosphere. Dined here recently with a group for the Mother's Day brunch 2022. Some of the meal entrees we enjoyed were Carnitas and Spinach and Mushroom omelette. The food and service was good on this busy Sunday early afternoon. My entree with a glass of Champagne came to $29, pre tax tip.
We requested and received a table next to the water so we could enjoy the annual boat parade. It was great, except that we were in the screaming children section. I guess they were there for the boat parade, too.
What a great view to be right on the lake. Food was great and staff was friendly, not pushy and took care of us very well. Food was great.
