The inside of the Havanna is rather loungy a bit dark with club lighting and electronic music. This is not my preferred ambience, so I prefer to be outside. Especially in summer, the seating outside, next to a lot of other restaurants and bars...that take over the Viehmarkt with chairs, tables and sunshades in summer, is comfortable and enjoyable. The cocktails are not the best value in Trier around EUR on average, but they have consistently been excellent. Yesterday, we had food for the first time and I was quite impressed by how good my Havanna Chicken Pfanne with pasta was. It was a large portion, so I had the leftovers packed up to take home. We are no picky customers, however, what we have experienced in this bar is absurd. My partner ordered a beer and the waiter accidentally brought us a completely different one. We expected that the waiter would either bring us another one or would not charge...it. The waiter didn’t do either. When we confronted him upon paying the bill he laughed and did not take us seriously. My partner again asked him whether he could understand his point and indignation, but he kept on ignoring us although nodding that he did in fact understand what we meant. This is quite an absurd way of dealing with costumers. Given the supply of bars in Trier, I would definitely not recommend anyone to go here!!
My wife and I ate here on both the nights we stayed in Trier. Sometimes when you have been traveling a while you just want a simple meal or a fresh salad and that’s what we chose at Havana. We had both the chicken and...beef salad and a few beers and sparkling wine and sat outside in the platz. The service was good and the food was fresh and light which was exactly what we were looking for, so a good choice for us. They have an extensive menu so plenty of other options but we were happy with our choice
This is a place where the locals go, not many tourists. I had the big tapas plate for euro. It was very good.
