Last night was a visit that we were hoping would remind us of our celebratory Cantonese wedding meal we had years ago when we were married abroad. Henry Wong had come highly recommended and l will say your actual food was delicious but the meal was marred almost from the start.We had booked several weeks ago and we like to arrive in time for our booking, in this case minutes before on arrival we were greeted with almost a grunt and a demeanour of what are you doing here! Went here for dinner with my partner after reading other reviews. Had high expectations. Ordered chicken yuk sung and spare ribs for starters. The yuk sung was really oily and luke warm, the portion for two was like a portion for one. The ribs had...been boiled and then fried making the meat tough. The king prawns for main were rubbery and again small portion. This is not a cheap place with main dishes between and For that price you would expect better quality and better portion size. Better food at your local chinese takeaway for fraction of the price.
I am a Londoner and travelled all the way to Birmingham to try out this restaurant that I have heard so much about! There was an extensive menu with lots of new dishes that other restaurants don't usually have; my personal favourite being the honey...pepper water chestnuts! Everything from the starters, mains and desserts were delicious and I thoroughly recommend coming here for authentic and flavoursome food. The staff were very attentive and lovely to speak too, and the overall dining experience was very pleasant! I will be returning again soon!
Phoned on a Saturday early evening and offered a later table in the bar area which sounded fine but on arrival, moved into the main restaurant as they'd had a cancellation so able to enjoy the better atmosphere of a busy restaurant but as at...the back still able to hold a conversation... enjoyed a set meal for which contained some of our favourite dishes and a bottle of sauvignon blanc. A lot of food so good job we didn't have starters as we would have left even more of the generous portions.... we will be back

Henry Wong in Harborne has been on my list of restaurants to try for a long time; its reputation for delicious Chinese food and luxurious dining experience precedes it. Though I rarely venture into Harborne (as I live on the other side of the city and, frankly, I’m lazy) when I was invited to a VIP blogger night at Henry Wong, I jumped at the chance.
Booked a table for a birthday celebration and was left extremely disappointed. For the cost of the food I would have expected better. Very slow service and then on asking for desserts was told only icecream available so asked for a coffee or tea and...was told the machine was turned off. The staff are eager to leave on time at the end of the evening
Having eaten at the restaurant many times I ordered a set meal for three on Saturday. The food was cold and inedible. Batter on the fish was soggy and pale, the prawns were soggy. All in all an expensive disaster. I have e'mailed the restaurant...and received no response which I feel tops it all really. I will not use again and would not recommend.
We travelled here to meet family for a special meal. All the food was delicious. We had a set meal between us. Each course was hot and tasty and everyone enjoyed it. We also managed to fit in dessert so I'd recommend the red velvet...cheesecake as it was delicious and light. Nice attentive staff.

First meal inside for months and the food was outstanding.If there is a better Cantonese restaurant I have not been to it.If you have the chance to eat here you must take the opportunity up don't miss out.
only had take-away from here (twice now) and am looking forward to going in at some point soon. food was really good but hands down the best dish was the soft shell crab ! sublime !
