I love this outpost of Flemish excellence sitting in France. Every meal I have had here has been perfect: I love cold cuts of meat and I love pate, cheese and rillettes. Here, I am never disappointed and the accompanying chips remind me of the one my grandmother made. All this and locally brewed ales would make it lovely, but the decor, locals, warm welcome, views make the place practically perfect. If I find myself in the Cassel area, I always look forward to a visit to the estaminet, and every friend I have recommended it to come to love the place too. Prices reasonable, portions sensible and quality superb. Thank you!

The location of this traditional style restaurant is wonderful, right at the top of the hill that Cassel sits on, and the views are amazing. The interior of the restaurant is old fashioned, but in a very good way lovely cosy atmosphere. The menu is not extensive, but there is an ample selection of great traditional local food. There is also a selection of daily specials. There is a good selection of wine, beer and cider and the in house beer and aperitif are recommended. The staff were very friendly and attentive and didn't seem at all bothered by our sometimes poor French!

I would advise anyone to avoid this dreadful place. The food is grossly over priced and the food portions are small. The wine we were served was awful and the owners don't care. We asked for the wine to be changed which they did, but the replacement wine, which is very expensive, was just as bad so we gave up. We have been going to France every year for the past 20 years and this, by far, was the worst experience we have ever had. The owner does not care and does not deserve to be in business. Dreadful experience.

Super nice restaurant with a laid back touch. They open “around 10” (but not all days) and they have truly great local, Flemish cuisine. They make their own apéritif, the food is prepared as much as possible with vegetables from their own garden and the staff is really friendly and welcoming. Games for the children are also available, so enjoyable for all!
