The food was actually great, sashimi was nice, tempura was perfect however what disappointed me most was their hygiene problems.... I brought home some of the food I ordered as I couldn't finish, to find an insect and a spider inside it. The flavour was absolutely disgusting as I must've ate the insects body, i threw out the insect and continued to eat, (as I hate wasting food)  thinking that the rest were edible I found the same disgusting flavour, and found a headless spider. Eventually I threw out all of it fearing there's more of them... I just hope that they would improve their hygiene and that I won't find any problems like this when If I come back.. I'm not angry but sad because...

Shared some really tasty dishes last night including eel, wagu beef - mains, sashimi and tempura and salmon with scallop on top - all delicious.  Only downside was the fact the food arrived too quickly, especially the two hot dishes which meant our wagu beef was barely warm when we got around to eating it.  Seemed to all arrive in the wrong order. Next time would just order as we go to enjoy an evening out - the fried banana with berry and cream and green tea what a nice little end to the evening.  My friend was a bit cold as the door was open all night, so best to choose a table further inside if they are available.  Definitely go back though and will try their lunch men...

We were roaming up and down King St on Valentines Day, looking for a dinner place. Everywhere had enormous queues or were closed. Fortunately because this place is just off King St, the queue was more manageable. What a pleasant surprise! Authentic Japanese. Friendly staff...even though very busy. Tempura was crisp and light, sushi and sashimi were top notch. The chilled sake was delightful on a warm summer night. I am sure the queues will be longer next time I visit...unfortunately for me. But well deserved. Highly recommended

Hidden jewel of Japanese food. Big portion with very reasonable price. The food tastes amazing and flavorful. The place is kinda small but the vibe is great with great music. The staff is quite limited so make sure to get all your orders prepared when the place is crowded. This place gets all 2 thumbs up from me and is highly recommended to revisit. I think it's my favorite place for japanese food so far Book a table now

Great food, good service, and easy to find location. We came on a Sunday night, was easy to find parking at the back street. Sashimi was fresh, aburi sushi was simply too yummy, also had salmon hotpot and fried oyster. Happy stomach, all dishes were really yum and reasonably priced. Highly recommend, and will def come back again.

Everyone reading my reviews knows that I love Japanese food, and that I miss traveling to Japan... Hikaru didn’t disappoint. They offer simple yet tasty Japanese dishes at a very reasonable price. We had tempura and sushi, all very delicious, with a nice glass of sparkling umeshu. Highly recommended.

This place can be easily overlooked as it's bit hidden in side lane but that's what gives it nice calming vibe out of the rush of the main street. Staff is nice and helpful. Many wonderful dishes to choose from, but I've got a feeling you can't go wrong with any choice.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. The fish tasted fresh and the udon was good. The service was a little muddled but I’m assuming that was due to the small size of the restaurant and how busy it got. I would definitely come back here. Book a table now

The food was great. It came out really quickly. Reduced their staffing due to covid so it would’ve been very reasonable if the food took time to arrive. Plenty of parking in nearby backstreets. Decent pricing
