Disappointing The staff were lovely but worked off their feet we saw the same staff doing everything the entire time we were there, certain things were unavailable due to staffing Food was ok but I can see why it lost its Michelin star. Service was lovely despite the obvious staffing issues The room the Miss Potter suite was nice. But lacked attention to detail. The curtains in the bedroom were high quality fabric, but were hung badly and didn't fit the windows, letting in a lot of light. There was no cohesion to the decor a large movie poster (main hue sky and azure blue) and generic b&q pictures in lime green do not scream high class to me. We had an amazing stay at Holbeck Ghyll from the moment we arrived and Tom, the ,manager/owner, met us in reception. We stayed in the Lansdale Suite which exceptional. The Chefs tasting menu off the charts and even thought it rained both days the grounds and views were stunning. Tom, Emma, Sarah, Fernando and Damian could not have been more attentive. Great history, wonderful service, excellent food and drink, what more would you want. Thanks Tom and team, truly memorable.
We didn’t stay over but went for the tasting menu, and it was absolutely delicious. Top work from the chefs and lovely staff. The portions were small, but that can be compensated for by the quality and originality of what was produced. The staff were attentive and the setting was glorious after a walk from troutbeck to Ambleside and return. Very well priced too. My wife and I loved it and many thanks to Lyn and her colleague (maybe Luke/Joe/Jack for their hospitality

Just perfect from start to finish. Beautiful Junior Suite, staff friendly and cheerful, especially Emma, who served us at breakfast. Comfiest bed and pillows ever. View is picturesque, so quiet and peaceful. Easy access to places of interest. Would highly recommend.
The most beautiful location for enjoying fine dining at its best! The food was the best I've ever tasted! thoroughly enjoyed ever mouthful whilst savouring the views over Windermere lake. What more could you ask for. Highly recommend!!!!
Lovely hotel. The staff were extremely attentive without being obtrusive. The food wasn’t quite as good as I was hoping but still delicious. Would love to come back when I’m in the Lakes.
