My partner and I have travelled from Liverpool for a weekend in the Lakes. We stopped here in Cockermouth on our way through having booked a table with yourselves through OpenTable. I even confirmed yesterday when contacted by OpenTable. We arrived this evening, closed…..? My contact details were provided, I’ve not been contacted, and there was no explanation offered. After traipsing round Cockermouth I’ve finally found somewhere to eat, and told that you are now closed by another restaurant manager. I was extremely dissatisfied with the food at this restaurant. I ordered the cod and requested a salad instead of vegetables on the side. However, when my meal arrived, the fish was barely warm and the salad only included a few lettuce leaves and three pieces of sun-dried tomato. Despite the subpar meal, I was still charged the full price. My friend ordered a burger, which was also lukewarm and lacked flavor. The only positive note was that her chips were still hot.
Good food and service. Disappointed with the lack of ventilation in the restaurant considering the very high covid infection rate in Cumbria. Staff wore face masks which was pleasing to see, where other places were not.
Second visit to restaurant, 1st visit food and service were excellent, so we rebooked, and took family who were visiting us. Service was not good such a shame as the food was excellent
