First warning: this place is SMALL three tables, so you are not guaranteed a seat if you turn up on spec, and when you have finished your drinks the staff will start making noises so that someone else can have your table. There are perching stools. Décor is nice (the place was completely refitted after the 2015 floods) although at present the toilet is not labelled, leading to my walking repeatedly into the kitchen by mistake. There is a wide choice of teas and coffees. The two darkest hot chocolates can be made vegan with oat milk, with a very pleasing result. The staff have promised they will keep one vegan cake available (at the moment it is usually marmalade cake and tastes good). There...

Went back here after lunching at the Wild Zucchini Bistro on Stephen's recommendation. I kind of felt obliged because he was so helpful. He recommended their Drip of the Day, since I'd asked for a black Americano, which was 20p more expensive than the Drip. Bearing in mind it's his own place, I appreciated the fact that he cared less about the money and more about the coffee! I supplemented the coffee with a piece of vegan Clementine and Cinnamon cake, perfectly moist and quite delicious. The place was full of laughter, as he obviously enjoys a rapport with his customers. Highly recommended

The best coffee around! After my first day in Costa, I realized I had discovered an oasis as soon as I caught the rich aroma of their coffee while passing by. The specialty coffee is perfectly balanced, and I had a lovely conversation with Steven about visiting other great cafes and local spots. Oh, and the vegan lemon drizzle cake was the moistest and most delicious vegan cake I've ever had! The pictures don’t do it justice, but I hope they convey the quality of the coffee and cake available here. This café is a must-visit if you're in the Cockermouth area!

On a rainy morning, we stopped by this café and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The torte we tried, a delicious blend of banana, chocolate, and nuts, was excellent. The coffee was wonderful, and the service was very friendly. Highly recommended!

Lovely place, greeted so warmly as soon as we walked in. The staff were very kind to our two young boys : I had a lovely vegan cake and an oat milk flat white. Would absolutely come again, it was a lovely memory added to our trip. Thank you!

I went in for lunch and the staff member I spoke to didn't know what was vegan. She wasn't sure if the sourdough bread was vegan (it's the only bad they sell).
