The horse and Jockey has become our favourite place to eat, the food is always good and is excellent value. Since we discovered it a while back we have dined there a couple of times a week and have never had a bad meal. The staff are great, always so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We usually go for lunch and can highly recommend the Sunday roasts and lunch time menu. We also booked a family Christmas meal in December, everyone agreed it was a great success and we will book again for this year. Yesterday we went for the three course Mother's day menu and, although they were fully booked and very busy, we were given the same excellent service and quality of food we normally receive....
Afternoon tea, pleasant surprise! me my sister and our parents arrived for afternoon tea on a rainy luchtime. Staff very welcoming and showed us to our table. Restaurant was nice and warm and we were shown to a window seat. Our drinks order was taken and our food arrived within around 15 minutes perfect! Plenty of sandwiches, coronation chicken, ham and tomato, cheese and cucumber, all very fresh. Scone and cream (scone very nice) (Jam wasn’t on the stand but the waitress bought it over when we asked) lemon drizzle cake, fresh strawberries and a chocolate millionaire shortbread cake all very nice! I typically don't enjoy dining at Tabletop Table restaurants, but I decided to give this one a try while staying at the hotel nearby. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff gave me a warm welcome, provided good service, and the meal was decent. I especially enjoyed the ribs.
Food ok but small amount. Skinny chips and veg is limited to peas for all dishes where veg is appropriate. Building outside and inside is worse for wear. Not been here for some time and definitely noticed the difference, shabby.

We had a wonderful family Christmas dinner with excellent service from Annette and the team. The food was delicious, hot, and flavorful. We are regular customers at this restaurant and always enjoy the lovely atmosphere.

We had a wonderful, peaceful evening with delicious food and a few drinks. Despite one of the bar staff being unwell, Dean did an excellent job of ensuring everything ran smoothly.
