I had an extremely disappointing experience at Hy-vee Market Grille Express. The staff were very rude, and the service was poor. My wife discovered hair in her pancakes, which was very unpleasant. On top of that, after we paid and left, I noticed an unexpected $10 charge on my credit card. It seemed like they were trying to take advantage of customers. When I called to dispute the charge, they argued with me and demanded the receipt to verify our purchase, even though they already had a receipt that appeared to have been altered.
The restaurant was poorly staffed and disorganized. I've visited other Hy-Vee locations where the food was excellent, but this experience was disappointing. The first three items I tried to order were unavailable. I then observed two people in the kitchen who seemed to be cooking for the first time; they appeared lost and didn’t know where the ingredients were or how to operate the oven. It seemed likely that they had been pulled from shelf stocking duties due to a lack of qualified cooks.
This location appears to have a high staff turnover, which I think affects both the service and food quality. Although I don’t expect gourmet dining at a Hy-Vee food court, I do expect a reasonable level of professionalism and for my meal to be freshly made and served hot—neither of which happened during my visit. Whatever problems exist behind the scenes, it’s obvious that changes are needed.
Seems to be a VERY high employee turnover which in my experiences explains the poor service and food quality. I don't expect gourmet food from a hyvee food court but still I expect a level of professionalism and fresh hot food, neither of which can befound at this location. I don't know what needs to be fixed behind the scenes but something needs to be done.
