This might be the number one restaurant I've been in my entire trip in Honolulu! We were lucky that we didn't have to wait at all to be seated and servers were very friendly. Some of them did not speak English very well but they all tried their best. Allfood we ordered were so fresh and delicious that we kept ordering more. Since it was busy dinner time, some of the orders tookmore than 20 minutes to come out but we were warned by the server before we order. This place is located in the Japanese foodcourt but definitely not a food court quality food! You MUST try this place when you are in Waikiki area.
Best experience and food that I have had in a while in Waikiki. First time here and I will definitely be coming back for more. I really loved it. The food is awesome, the service is Japanese style, great decor, and modern appeal. I came here with myboss and had a great time while eating Japanese steak on a hot lava plate with rice and all the sides. I had a lemon chuhai todrink which was tasty and refreshing after a long day at work. My boss had Japanese whiskey and soda water. Awesome Experience
The food at Izakaya Kai is good value for the price in Waikiki. We were craving sushi and decided to try the chirashi bowl, which was satisfying. The restaurant was busy when we visited at 1 PM, with people coming and going. However, there was only one server and host on duty, so service was a bit slow. Despite this, if you consider the location and price, Izakaya Kai is a decent option.
Had salmon poke and udon soup meal here, and sat at the bar. Food was great, no complaints there whatsoever, very fresh and flavorful. The service was subpar, however. I waited probably 10-15 minutes to even order (they were not busy, I was the onlyone at the bar). Each thing I needed from the server, orders, check, etc, took way longer than it should have. Food good,servers need work.

The whole underground are Japanese food. This one is more for the takeout style dinner or lunch. For lunch, they only offer full combination of rice/ udon noodle with sashimi (raw fish or pork) or fried pork. No individual sashimi offer, and almost nosidedish. Only dinner offer sashimi, but relative expensive, comparing ti lunch deal (most about $15) The Japanese food here isauthentic.
Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Cute little restaurant located in a Japanese food court. Like everything else in Hawaii, it's pricier than you would pay in other places, but there were tons of options and the service was quick (we were in and out in 45 mins max). Great for parents that want to eat their fill without spending 2 hours somewhere with impatient kids.
Very disappointing. After reading the reviews, I thought this place would be very good. We even canceled Sansei to come here, and that was a mistake. Very too expensive for the low quality sushi you get, and the service was chaotic, and that is it mild. Honestly, avoid this place as there are much better options s around.
The food at this restaurant is delicious and the service is excellent. The Japanese-style decor is beautiful and creates a great atmosphere. They have also updated their menu to offer more options for a late-night snack. Overall, it is a fantastic place to dine.

they hustle customers for tipp! it was a minimum requirement that we change our top to at least 18% or more. I had changed my tip amount to my bill and was not happy about it.
Great food and excellent service. I wanted to get away from all the chain restaurants and this was an excellent choice.
