Absolutely fantastic sushi restaurant that serves unique and innovated Japanese food. They have interesting mix of maki rolls on sushi trains as well highly creative al la carte menu options. Their sashimi quality is top notch, faultless cuts and incredible freshness. I was so impressed with quality of each dish. I especially enjoyed Tuna Tartare and kingfish ceviche roll. Japone is one of my favourite sushi places in Sydney! They offer fusion and artistic looking sushi’s, and even baked to fried sushis! Yum! I’ve realised that customers have complained about the wait time, but Japone makes sushi like art and tastes amazing. I have visited this restaurant many times and the food is always excellent. They serve fresh, made-to-order sushi and my favorite dish is the Crazy Crab (baked sushi). The Sashimi tacos are a must try! However, during my last visit, there seemed to be a new staff member who was forgetful and not very attentive to customers. She forgot to write down one of our orders and when we asked for a drink, she forgot and started cleaning tables instead (even though there were only 2 customers in the restaurant at that time). I recently visited this restaurant with a friend for a light dinner. We ordered appetizers and mains.
The food took a while to arrive, about 30 minutes. The waitstaff were friendly and always smiling. One server seemed to be rushing to the kitchen even when she had nothing in her hands, suggesting that the slow service may have been due to understaffing.
When the food did arrive, it was worth the wait. The dishes were delicious and nicely presented. While the prices were reasonable for Newtown, they may have felt expensive if the restaurant was located in the city.
I highly recommend this restaurant for a casual meal with friends or a romantic date, as the atmosphere is perfect for both.
I absolutely love this sushi restaurant! The quality of the food is always top-notch, and the service is exceptional. I highly recommend trying the tacos and popcorn shrimp as appetizers - the fresh and crunchy textures complement each other perfectly. The menu is extensive with a lot of variety. I personally enjoyed the bold flavors of the dragon roll, while my boyfriend loved the fresh and slightly spicy kick of the kiss of fire roll. There truly is something for everyone here. I will definitely be back for another visit!
I don't usually like sushi because of the flavour of the seaweed, but this place is amazing! I tried the Rainbow Roll and Kamakazi and it was delicious. The sauces that they used were amazing and masked the flavour of the seaweed. I'll definitely be back again!!
Spicy tuna roll is absolutely fabulous. Great sake. Try the ‘hot and nutty’ sake. Don’t make the mistake of walking past based on first impressions and appearance. The quality is excellent and service is friendly. You have two new regulars!
