The chicken salad sandwich brought back memories of my mom’s homemade recipe, with fresh and flavorful tomato and roll. The hush puppies were a highlight—crispy on the outside, moist inside, and filled with tasty bits of diced onion and herbs. However, the macaroni and cheese wasn’t to my liking, as it was quite bland, though it did remind me of the traditional, simpler South Carolina style, sometimes made with egg. The creamy coleslaw was a wonderful complement to the meal. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality and hope they continue to deliver consistent cooking and service.
Last night, we tried J-n-j Southern Kitchen for the first time with a delivery order. I had the half chicken with BBQ sauce, accompanied by fried eggplant, sweet potato fries, and cornbread. The fried eggplant was the best I've ever had! Everything was amazing, arrived quickly, and was still hot. It was the best meal I've had in a long time! I'm so happy we found this place—we almost went with pizza instead. If I could, I’d order from them every day and never cook again! Everything was absolutely perfect!
First time ordering from this place. My fiancé got the smothered pork chops over rice and the ribs. He barely ate his food and he always eats his food so I knew it was a problem. I got the catfish and chicken wings with collard greens. Greens were sweet and salty which was weird to me. The chicken was bland and even when I added my own seasonings it still had no flavor and was not crispy. The catfish was meh very soggy and salty. Would not eat here again
The pork chops were tough, the rice was overcooked, and the greens were soggy. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box, and the cornbread was too cake-like. On the bright side, the food was served hot, but I have to give that credit to the delivery driver for being so prompt. Unfortunately, this was my first and last experience with this restaurant. I ended up throwing the food away. What a waste of money—I'm really disappointed.

First had to wait an hour and 30 min for the foo, then the driver yelled at me for not paying tip, at my door. The food was sub par, had very little flavor and was lukewarm. I've had better food from shady looking food stands and food trucks at cons and concerts.DONT EAT HERE! Else you get a angry old driver yelling at you over no tip after a near 2 hour wait, with lukewarm food and the feeling of anger to digest.
Oh my goodness, they are amazing! The pig feet dinner is our absolute favorite. My 82-year-old mom and I travel nearly 20 miles just to enjoy the pig feet. I love their greens and potato salad, and my mom always orders the macaroni and cheese along with cabbage. I really admire them for preparing soul food that matches the quality of my mom's cooking!
A few years ago, my. boyfriend and I bought food from there thinking it was real southern cooking. Nope! The owners are not even from the South! The chicken was dry with no flavor! Collard greens were abismal. To top it off, the owners also run the pizza shop next door. Same people cooking the ‘southern food’ are the ones whipping up pizza.
I absolutely love this place! I can't remember the last time I went a week without stopping by for my favorites: the chicken, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, and collard greens. They offer carryout and catering services as well. Just so you know, these are my personal preferences, and they never disappoint!
