I usually don’t like too much sauce on my maki rolls, so I was happy with the Fire Dragon roll—it came with 11 pieces and no extra sauce that would overshadow the amazing seafood flavors. This isn't your typical sushi place, but overall, everyone liked what they ordered. The Godzilla Crunch specialty roll was quite intriguing, and we’re likely to try more specialty items next time. The spicy chicken karaage was just okay; it might not be the best option for takeout as it became quite soft and lost its crunch. The squid balls were mediocre as well, being a bit too doughy for my taste.
I really don't understand why this restaurant has a lower rating than Mandarin. Ottawa isn’t exactly known for its sushi! They offer fresh fish, Vancouver-style rolls, and fantastic takoyaki. I would say this is the best sushi spot in town, maybe with a bit of competition from Shinka. I just wish they were open for lunch or that they would consider opening a location in the West End! Absolutely amazing! This is by far the best pork belly I've ever had. Usually, I’m not a fan of pork belly in ramen, but you would really regret passing it up here! The delightful little house where the restaurant is located enhances the overall experience. This was definitely one of the standout moments during my first trip to Ottawa!
We ordered the combo set, which featured the Big Boss roll along with sashimi and sockeye salmon pressed sushi. Everything was outstanding. The sashimi was thick and fresh, the Big Boss roll was full of flavor, and the pressed sushi had a perfect harmony of sauce, fish, and rice. I highly recommend visiting and sampling their menu!
