We had dinner last saturday in October. Two medium prized menus. Gave all request to the waitress. It seems the kitchen had problems coping with the load :The Ceasar salats were with sloppy 'boiled ' bacon. The beef ordered as medium was rare while the chicken was not eatable 'boiled ' legs. They could not remember the dessert ordered, so that had to be clarified with another waitress. Additional wine ordered was not delivered to the table but ended up on the bar ... we had to go ask for it. Finally the coffee ordered also ended on the bar desk. When we decided to leave they charged the not delivered coffee ... but when we protested offered the now cold coffee. We ended up not paying for the...
This establishment was on campus for us right beside our Hotel. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the staff were really helpful and friendly, so the place has a good atmosphere. When I ordered a cognac on one occasion, the young lady, wanting to know whether or not I wanted a double measure, inquired if I wished 2 litres or 4 litresof cognac much to her own embarrassment and the great amusement of her colleagues. She had meant 2 or 4 Millilitres, of course, but all present, including herself, had a good laugh.
I stayed at the Ibis hotel with a couple of friends for one night. We went next door to La Boucherie for a meal after the hotel staff recommended it. To make it easier all three of us chose a salad at 15 euros. It was a large bowl.of mainly lettuce with not very nice chicken pieces. A salad, beer, dessert and coffee was 32 euros each. It was the poorest value meal during our one week trip. We should have gone to the nearby McDonald's for the same food at a fraction of the price. Friendly service though so not all bad.
So, if you are looking for gourmet, overpriced food look elsewhere. But if you are a client of the full range of Ibis Hotels at this location then full recommendation. But also interesting how many local French were here. And, in these difficult times, no no entry! Safe environment, good food, sensible prices.
