La Cabro d'Or - Table reservation

My husband and I dined here on a recent couples trip while staying at the hotel, which I highly recommend. The food was exceptional one of the best meals of the trip. But the service was a tiny but unpolished, which you do not expect at this price point. We began our meal with an aperitif outside and the delightful amuse bouche, which we loved. The gentleman from the bar asked us several times for our room number and then the drinks never appeared on any bill! I felt bad, but hardly my error. With family visiting from afar I booked the Cabro d'Or for an upscale gastronomic experience. The meal and the service were resoundingly substandard and by no means merited the outsized prices. Upon arrival, no one was there to greet our party and I had to go and signal to one of the staff that we were waiting to be seated. We were seated next to two tables of smokers quite frankly in 2023 allowing smoke to ruin the pristine atmosphere of les Alpilles is a crime as we were a large party we could not be reseated. A lovely restaurant in a charming setting. Our table overlooked the small pond which contained a pair of swans and several ducks. My wife and I first received two small complimentary dishes that were OK, though too precious for our tastes. We each had two courses. The octopus was wonderful, tender and perfectly cooked, though a small portion for the price, but the langoustine tartar was rather tasteless, with small evidence of langoustine. Overlooking the pond, on a gorgeous day in Les Baux. This is highly rated for a reason, the service is impeccable and the ambiance is wonderful. My highlight was a dessert of aubergine, a chef specialty. He had an octopus starter that was loved. Perfectly paired wines and we enjoyed our time here. Recommended!

Super dinner at this restaurant. Our hosts took wonderful care of us especially our young children. The chef was very careful about our son’s allergies and created wonderful dishes around them. All our dishes were amazing!
