La Ferme des Nielles

We stumbled on this location just by accident when we were on our way to Cancale. It was noon and we were hungry and looking for a place to eat. In Saint-Meloir-des-Ondes, Brittany, France , a short distance from Cancale, we spotted a restaurant nestled among a row of warehouses where oysters are processed. There were many cars parked outside the restaurant and decided to check it out. OH my God,“ I think we hit the jackpot when it came to oysters and seafood. Cancale was so busy it was difficult to get a park and as we driven past La Feme des Nielles on the way we decided to drive back for lunch. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. A bit difficult to understand the process of ordering to begin with but the staff were very helpful. A great find.

Outside of Cancale amidst the oyster farms. Choose and pick from an assortment of wonderful fresh delights which are then weighed and passed to the shucker. Boissons ordered at a separate counter-and a buzzer alerts you to when to collect your order. Exceptional staff. Great lunch.

Really enjoyed our visit, we had some of the best, freshest seafood ever. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and made a fuss of our dogs! I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant so if you are in the area, make sure you pay a visit, you will not be disappointed!

What a great find, from a simple Moules Frites to a pick and mix Fruits de Mer, which is what we chose. Excellent fresh seafood Excellent hospitality Excellent service Good value Dog friendly Plenty of parking Highly recommended
