After driving around for 30 minutes trying to find a restaurant to go to on a Saturday night without booking, we found this place. The owner was very friendly and accommodating and gave us a table over looking the valley. It's certainly in a beautiful setting. Menu much the same as every other restaurant in the area. Duck. But we also had veal which was lovely. Service was slow but we didn't mind considering that we were walk-ins. When we went to pay were told cash only. It would have been helpful if we were told this before but luckily we scrapped together enough to pay for the bill. If we are in the area again we would certainly return. First thing it's cash only, secretary nod thing don't let that put you off The six of us had a superb meal, if your rushed for time forget it. From start to finish was three hours The 2 children's meals were exceptional, but certainly not for the nuggets and chips requirement. Fresh salad, duck pate, smoked duck more the thing.For the 4 adult portions we had 2 menu as the starters were so large we shared them out. But then 4 great main meals of veal and confit canard. The restaurant is in a very beautiful setting overlooked by a small castle and sits about 200 feet above a gorgeous valley with grazing cattle which are owned by the restaurant owner. This is why we love the Dordogne. Booked a table for an evening meal. Very friendly staff and owner. We were given a shot of the local strawberry liquor- powerful stuff! We had six courses and I will let the photos do most of the talking. A special and delicious meal in a fairy tale setting with lovely friendly staff/owners. Thank you for a special evening.
Having lived around the area for a few years, I highly recommend this place, local produce, cooked excellently and served beautifully, in a lovely spot with excellent views down the valley and with chateaux du carlux above. So many places get the basics wrong, but not here..!! One word of warning, if you aren't too hungry don't opt for anything more than the 17€ menu, the portions are generous!!

We had a wonderful four hour lunch last October. I still think of that time and smile!The service was first class (it was, in fairness, late season and quiet)That doesn't detract from my experience of great food and hospitality, a wonderful view and the weather was perfect too!Treat little gems like this with care.It's not a fast food outlet but an experience that will fill your heart with joy!
Fantastic typical French food, served over several courses on a set menu. The setting is beautiful, just under the chateau. The staff are really helpful and will make every effort to translate into English. Be warned that they do not take card payment; cash or cheque only. The nearest cash machine is about 4 miles away along a hill side road with no lights.
Visited as two families. Great set menu if you like duck and melon. Beautifully presented food and delicious. Nice view from the terrace. Attached to the farm shop.
The food was decent and well presented. The service was chaotic and disorganised. If you are prepared to wait this restaurant is worth a visit.
