This is a beautiful and delicious gem on Willie Street! The dining room is very intimate and cozy. Upon entry, you are greeted with the aromas of the kitchen. We went on Tuesday “date night” and enjoyed our entrees Boeuf Bourguignon and Poulet a La Normande. The beef was bold and hearty, and the chicken was a delightful dance of sweet and savory. We also shared a bowl of French onion soup, which should not be missed! The meal was finished off with lavender crème brûlée and a lemon curd crepe. The date night deal also includes a bottle of red, white, or rose wine we went with the red which was an imported French Cabernet that paired perfectly with the beef.
la chef was great! I had a reservation for 9 o'clock on a Saturday (if they open) and was sitting immediately. nicole, our server, was super friendly and attentive. we ordered a cappuccino, Belgian hot chocolate, green French toast and regular French toast, and everything was delicious.
we love, love, love to go in la chefn! it was a past and it is just as good as we remember. eating is always great, and it is by far the best smelling restaurant in madison! it is just a warm embrace of a restaurant.
I love a place that has a great mood, is unpredictable, the dishes are excellent! dining room is small, therefore caffe vibe. get a reservation last week. we will try brunch next time!

Our favorite breakfast/brunch in Madison. The French onion soup is one of the best I’ve had ANYWHERE and I love the ficelles. What a wonderful place. Absolutely need reservations.
