From the moment we had to deal with the rude and unfriendly hostess, I felt the place was not the correct one to enjoy a Sunday lunch with the family. The lady barely acknowledged us and directed us to our table. Which wasn?t my favorite spot, but that?s ok. The ?beef? on the tostadas was basically nerves and fat or ?pellejos? apparently it was boiled and finely chopped to trick the customers. ? the attached pic shows how we left the plate. The service left much to be desired; there were no recommendations offered at all. It felt more like the staff was just waiting for us to tell them what we wanted. Our drinks were empty several times, and we had to ask the busboy for refills. The servers just dropped the bill without any personal touch or engagement. On the bright side, the food was good. The torta was a bit too fluffy for my taste, but the meat was flavorful. I might return if someone else is covering the bill, but I won't be spending my money here again.
Mexican food varies from the region of Mexico the restaurant emphasizes. In the case of La Tapatia, which region they emphasize, is directly on the sign for me! As a regular I tried everything here and found all my selections to be very tasty. Margaritas are a must! However, they are quite strong here, so I usually opt for a Mexican beer. The service is excellent, the prices are reasonable and the parking lot is abundant, but can challenge during peak hours.
I was here several times, I ordered Quill I felt that they were more tender and more spicy, but still were pretty good. The salsa is super hot, so be careful!?

I had a wonderful evening with friends out on the patio. Food was EXCELLENT especially the guacamole. Waitstaff was hard working but still very attentive.
My husband and I were in Houston for four days, we ate all the time and that was by far the best food and service we had. Very recommended!
The chickens of soft flour tacos were really delicious and not dry. It's hard to find a good chicken taco in this town.
