We were in Chamrousse last week for a fantastic sun filled week of skiing. We discovered this gem of a restaurant on the first day of our holiday and returned there every day. Although the slopes weren't that busy, the restaurant was! So try and time your lunch break around the crowds - either an early lunch, or enjoy the slopes for a bit longer and have a late lunch. There are pizzas, croquet Monsieur, hot dogs, burgers and the specials - tartiflette (a-maz-ing!) , lasagne, beef stew, and more. And the portion sizes are enough to keep the most adventurous skier topped up and ready to go for the afternoon! The staff are such a friendly, happy group of people and cope with the large queue adm...

An amazing restaurant that is family run. George and Catherine, the owners make you so welcome and their family who help run the place are delightful. Thibaut is part of the younger generation family along with the young ladies run a very efficient place. On the food front, everything is fresh and made for the day. The portions are generous and food is very tasty. Even my kids who are normally fussy, love the food here. The cost is definitely reasonable, in fact cheap compared to any other ski resort I have been to. There are enough number of dishes to choose from and the delightful George is constantly preparing fresh pizzas to order throughout the day with a smile on his face. They are ver...

This was our restaurant of choice for lunch on our skiing holiday in Chamrousse. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. When it’s really busy (which it was virtually all the time due to some inclement weather) they try and make sure they can get you a seat in the warm. When the sun is out there are loads of tables outside and it’s a proper sun trap. Their Vin Chaud and Hot Chocolate with cream must be some of the best in town. And their tartiflette is to die for! Prices here are pretty good compared with neighbouring establishments so make sure you pay a visit! Book a table now

I’ve only been here for a quick waffle and hot chocolate so I can’t really comment on the hot food at La Taverne du Gaulois but what I did have was very good. The waffle was crispy with plenty of nutella and the hot chocolate was rich and creamy (not at all watery like some can be) with lots of chantilly. Whilst it is self service (so a bit annoying to have to walk around in ski boots) it was quick and the food was good so I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a snack whilst on the slopes. It would be my restaurant of choice for a snack at Chamrousse 1750.

We booked this place in advance before heading out to Chamrousse. Pleased we did as it was fully booked. Wonderful service. Felt like a family run place where everyone greeted you with a smile and were so welcoming. The food was typical of what you expect from a French ski resort. The steaks were very well cooked and cheese fondue and beef fondue were delicious. Would absolutely recommend.

This is a great spot to get lunch after a busy morning skiing. The service is good and the food is fine. There is quite a queue at busy times and it can be difficult getting a table if there is a big group, however, the staff are very accommodating!

Great selection of local dishes and nice hot chocolate. The lasagne was particularly nice (it was a plat de jour so not regularly on the menu) reasonably priced too. Book a table now
