A very good place in the heart of Bourg-en-Bresse. A talented cook proposes interesting and non-classical dishes for a decent price, and the waiter is efficient, friendly, and helpful. I strongly recommend dishes with the Bresse Gaulouise, the local chicken breed considered as the most savory in France. And for those who want to know what the name of the restaurant means: it 's onomatopoetic for La cage (the cage), which might refer to the barbie doll in the birdcage close to the entrance.
We found this restaurant after a hasty search during a stopover at Bourg en Bresse on the way back to the UK from the Alps. It turned out to be a lovely surprise! The food was absolutely delicious and the quirky, cheerful atmosphere was lovely. It was also superb value. Definitely recommended.
Fabulous set menu from ingredients mainly from local producers, meals geared towards locals looking for a good quality lunch. Low key, unpretentious home cooked fare and wine. Excellent, taste and value served up by very friendly chef. You won’t be disappointed.
