"Top class meal and service, which is why our hostess took us there. Lovely location, inside at the window overlooking the terrace. The menu was interesting œuf coquette entrée cooked in a pot, followed by hake (merlu) on polenta and the wine list extensive."

We used to go here for lunch at least once a month. The menu was always interesting and varied, the service and quality of the staff used to be excellent. Now, however, we waited for a good few minutes before being cursorily greeted by a man still wearing his gilet and woolly scarf. He confirmed our prior reservation and showed us to a table. A waitress came over and gave us an A5 sheet if card on which the limited menu was printed. We then waited a good 5 minutes whilst she chatted to other serving staff by the serving hatch. When she returned I asked if I could have one of the starters with veg as a main course. No, she replied. Further questioning resulted in me ordering the starter, and...

This was the perfect lunch spot for us while spending a day in Cognac. Located by the scenic river, the outdoor patio space is simply charming. We did not have a reservation, but got seated right away just the same. We found the wait staff to be friendly, helpful, and English speaking. So we didn 't have to use our poor French. We did the two choices option: one person ordered an appetizer and main course. The other person ordered the main course and a dessert. That way we could share 4 different dishes. We had a wonderful time! A refined cuisine, balanced flavours. Chicken with vegetables each with a special taste, snails with delicious ceps. The desserts also perfect! Carefully decorated plates for the pleasure of the eyes. Perfect cooking. Cognac's best restaurant in our opinion. The leader and his team deserve their stars. The service was perfect, well rythmated, staff with small care caring for our desires and opinions and especially not guinated. Effective and casual. The frame is very pleasant. We recommend and return. Very good price for this culinary exception, menu at 39€, it is to be noted.

Nice location for lunch. Very nice attentive service but the food was disappointing. My tartare of cod was fresh with mango but over salted avocado purée, over cooked chips and a tired salad of old leaves that I would have given to my chickens at home. My partner’s tartare of beef was good, but same problem with the chips and salad. The raspberry sorbet was excellent. Kir was good but very heavy on the cassis. Citron pressé was almost double the price of the kir. Disappointing in a restaurant that stresses the gourmet nature of its cuisine.
