Le Colonial is a beautiful restaurant with unique cuisine and good service. My low rating was due to the Valentines Day experience, they charged $110 per person and only offered one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert from essentially the regular menu. The costs of these items in total would only normally cost $60 $75 on a regular night. Was totally unacceptable to charge double and not offer anything extra. Would have at least expected another course at this price. I would recommend Le Colonial for a nice lunch or dinner, but steer clear on a special night.
This restaurant offers delicious food, but unfortunately, our service was quite slow and our server was unfriendly. The tables are arranged very close together, which makes for an uncomfortable dining experience, and the noise level makes it hard to have a conversation. I would recommend avoiding weekends and hoping for better service during the week. One last note: you have to order all your food at once. Next time, I'll just order appetizers and let them know that's all we're having for now, so I can decide later what else we might want.
Reservations are essential for dining here. We arrived early and were asked to wait in the bar area. At 7 PM, our party of four was seated. The ambiance was lovely, but the music was a bit too loud, making it difficult to have conversations. Service was excellent—staff were professional, attentive, and friendly. The food was exceptional! We thoroughly enjoyed the Shaking Beef and Curry Chicken. The other dishes we tried were also very good. Don't skip dessert; it's a must!
I dined alone for dinner and managed to grab a seat at the bar. The bar staff was extremely attentive and polite, and the drinks were fantastic. The food was delicious—fresh and spicy—and the portion was just right for one person. I've visited Le Colonial in the city before and wanted to try the Lake Forest location; I was not disappointed. I definitely recommend it!

Although I had reservations for 5:30 and arrived a little early my only choice of tables was 1st one by the door or table added in corridor on way to restroom next to kitchen door. Very disappointed. I would suggest eliminating that table immediately, better to please guests that make that one table extra money
Food was interesting though somewhat too spicy. Would have liked the option to make it less so. Beautiful presentations. Alcohol grossly overpriced. Would come back again on someone else's dime. $200 for two is a bit much. We ordered one small plate, one salad, one large plate, one dessert and three drinks
We went out for my wife’s birthday and the dinner was excellent-the service was perfect and the food delicious and such interesting flavors from the tuna tartare and the tofu spring rolls to the salmon and shrimp entrees to the dessert-just perfect. We will be back -soon!
Celebrated my birthday there last night. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and beyond delicious. Service was outstanding. Lovely, intimate restaurant, but not pretentious. Cannot wait to return and try other dishes. Perfect evening.

Wow. The flavors!!! The service!!! This place is wonderful. Just a couple of smallish things. Our table as very small... and our lemon tart crust a bit hard (so hard to manage when it is coming from refrigeration). Highly recommend.
The food is amazing. We appreciate the many gluten free options available. I have celiac disease and have never had a reaction from eating here. This is one of our favorite restaurants!
