Loved the informal nature of this little lunch place. Order at the counter and your name is called for the food to be collected. Set by the beautiful river Vezere and lovely to watch the canoe boats paddle past. Salads and sandwiches looked so fresh and drinks fairly well priced. Lots of bugs and flies about so be aware. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the delay in the food being prepared. One day we ordered two basic sandwiches to take away and it took nearly 25 minutes for them to be prepared.

Was told by new friends in Montignac to visit Saint Leon sur Vezere for the experience. Really good advice. Pleasant ville with lots of coffee shops with wonderful settings by the river. Looks like a good place for canoeing as well. Interesting Roman Church and architectual attractions. Le dejjeuner sur l'herbe serves good tea and coffee and the pastries are yummy

Our second visit was as good as the first. Open sandwiches and salads eaten by the riverbank followed by great cakes, coffee, a light snooze and a swim. What could be better? Mooch in the local brocante too. Only thing that marred it slightly this time was an excess of wasps. I mean ALOT of wasps but hey that’s summer.

We visited one roasting hot lunchtime, and ate a delicious lunch at an outside table overlooking the river. You have to queue up to order your food in the little grocery shop, so get there early if you can to avoid a long wait. The staff are friendly and the food simple but delicious. Very much recommended.
