We ducked inside because our baby was asleep and it didn't look as crowded as everywhere else (which in hindsight should have been a warning sign!) but it was terrible. I ordered a steak bavette which turned out to be a piece of old shoe leather and my wife ordered a Belgium beef stew which came out barely warm and tasting like something that comes from a tin (which I'm pretty sure it did!). The fries were basically the same type of chips you get from a UK kebab shop and the timbleful of wine we each ordered was practically vinegar.All in all a bad bad meal from a place whose business plan is clearly to pull in tourists and serve them cheap overpriced food knowing that they'll never have to...
Wandering around Lille this evening, just off the Grand Place, we saw a street of restaurants. Attracted in to this one as my daughter wanted mussels and they were offering a mussels and chips deal for under ten euro. Service was good and quick and they loved my ten year old trying out her school French and were very friendly in return. Food was delivered quick and was both hot and tasty (I had a nicely cooked rare steak). Dessert was nice the tarte tatin particularly tasty. Overall I felt I got very good valu for what we payed and good service as well.
We're not expecting much when we stopped on a rather cold Sunday evening. We were amazed by the fish of the day: turbot. It was really nicely cooked and accompanied by delicious cèpes. The home made cassoulet was on the oily side but tasted divine. Very generous portions and excellent value for money. The dog was made welcome too.
Attentive staff who left us on the ground floor to avoid the 85-year-old grandmother having to go down the stairs. The tabs are exceptional and very generous. The staff takes great care and the value for money is very good! We will come back!

If you are looking for the best steak frites in Lille, look no further. We had dinner and loved it. The l'onglet (steaks) were absolutely delicious. Oh, and the choux dessert wasn't too bad either. Highly recommended.
What a find! We really enjoyed our evening meal here great service and an abundance of meat. Not in any way pretentious and served the best chips in Lille! Please go!
