Having read so many of the reviews for this restaurant we were looking forward to a gastronomic experience sadly our evening was off the mark. First, the meet and greet was rather surly. Second, we ate off the €29 menu. The starters were ok. However, for the mains my wife ordered a cassoulet, what she got was cream of mushroom soup with a puff pastry topping and a dollop of mash! I ordered the confit duck and was not disappointed. Crispy and succulent. Desert almost redeemed a disappointing experience. Overall a curates egg of a meal. 10 people of which two were Vegan which we booked a day or two ahead. Service courteous and efficient. Excellent food all around ... Second visit as a Vegan and I believe Nick Honeyman could definitely do much more of it: on the two occasions so far the Vegan dishes have surprised with creative originality, mouthwatering taste and eye pleasing presentation. Le Petit Leon is absolute delight - set in a pretty garden in the beautiful village of Saint Leon Sur Vezere the food is exquisite and never fails to disappoint, The is the 4th year running we have gone back to Le Petit Leon which is only open in July and August. There are two Menus one 25 one at 33 euros with reasonably priced wine list. I cannot fault this restaurant at all and can't wait to go back to try even more of the utterly delicious sounding Menu!
If you try a place because of word of mouth, the consider yourself told! The food was top notch, such a mix of flavours that melded together perfectly while still being individual enough to still be identifiable. Just make sure you save room for the desserts. The staff were friendly and attentive enough to keep the evening moving while not making you feel pressured.

We had been recommended this restaurant Le Petit Leon from friends. It did not disappoint. We ate here two nights in a row. Quite simply the food is stunning. Simply superb. The setting in the garden is divine. All the staff super. We will be back and would not hesitate recommending to others.
Definitely the best food we have had in ten months living in the Dordogne. Clear, distinct flavours presented with simple artistry by charming, friendly staff. A well chosen wine list. Just the best lunch. Dinner menu looks even better!
Wow… Truly the best culinary experience in recent memory. Amazing inventive dishes, lovely knowledgeable and extra enthusiastic staff and unusual wine pairings. Cannot rave enough about this restaurant in a most charming setting!
