If you find yourself in Rouen at lunch time,and were hoping to visit the wrought iron museum, you will find it does not open until 2 pm. So in the meantime, very close by on the Place 19April 1944 is this very nice bistro. You can sit outside along the cafe that faces the square with no vehicular traffic. We had a very nice table under a tree for some shade and enjoyed two more than generous salads, one with tuna and another with bits of delicious baked ham. The croque monsieurs and madames( the difference being a fried egg on top of the toasted ham and cheese) seemed to be a favorite with the locals. We had a nice time at the Socrates. Very friendly welcome and fast service. The dishes are copied (pictures below) special mention for gourmet coffee. Smiling servers. Do not rely on the general note because this brewery deserves better!!! In this late December 2023, we have always returned to the top nice address not to miss if you pass close!!!
Place where you can find a moment to blow the daily, good and warm atmosphere, dynamic and friendly staff, quick service. Socrates has a clientele of all ages and very frequent. Warm architecture that makes you want to enter and spend a relaxing moment there. I recommend! We feel good and safe.
I had a very pleasant time in this establishment! Very warm and attentive staff, the kitchen is really delicious and very correct in price. I learned that out-of-card suggestions change very often so I will quickly come back. Thank you all.

We always end up here when in Rouen. In summer love sitting outside and in winter indoors, where it's cosy and buzzing with lovely frenchness . Food is O.K. too. It is our place and we love it.
