As wine enthusiasts we were really keen to taste the wines of Paul Jaboulet Aine on our tour of the area and visited the town specially. We had researched this online and read that individual tastings were not pre bookable so called in early in the day to enquire. The manageress was friendly enough but said they couldn’t do it until later in the day as they had group tastings booked in the morning. She advised come back anytime after 3 and confirmed that we did not need to book. We arrived at 4. She remembered us and suggested we take a seat. A member of staff brought us a wine menu with no explanation and disappeared. We enquired of the manageress was this the correct menu for a tasting, sh...

We visited the tasting room/wine bar/restaurant on what seemed to be a very slow day as we were the only customers there for the majority of our mid-afternoon visit. We paid for the upscale tasting of three vintages (2006, 2011, 2016) of their premier Hermitage La Chapelle. The pours were generous and the tasting met our expectations. Based on the tasting, we purchased a bottle of the '16. Upon returning to our hotel, I checked the USA prices on the wines (where we live) and it turns out we paid over 7% more in USA dollars (considering taxes in both countries, exchange rate, etc) than we would have paid in the USA. How does that make any sense? Why should shop local mean pay more ? So, at le...

We had a free afternoon in Tournon whilst on a Viking River Cruise, so we walked across the bridge to Tain L'Hermitage, to sample some local wines. We weren't expecting to find many places open, as it was 11 November, but this place was, and it seemed very popular with locals. We had a glass of Condrieu and a glass of Hermitage and were given a little complimentary snack to go with our wines. Great wines in a nice atmosphere, with pleasant staff.

As the foothill of l’Hermitage Hill, great food, lovely service, can be a little slow but staff are so friendly you won’t notice. Owned by Jaboulet the wine list leans towards their wines which is great and well-priced. Fantastic lunch
