Tired after a long drive from the U.K., we came here for dinner, because it was near our hotel. The dining room was rather garishly decorated, but we were here to eat, and so hoped for the best. Things got off to a poor start, because we waited more than fifteen minutes before anyone bothered to ask us if we wanted a drink, then another long wait for menus, then the garrulous owner who was chatting with the regulars didn't bother to suggest the plat du jours, etc. This is a clubby little restaurant that might be popular among its local following, but it doesn't suit for foreigners, and the food was just dead ordinary, including a pasty steak Americain (good ones are made from freshly hand ch...
