My wife and I left before we even had a chance to order. Why you might ask? Lack of any form of service or caring by the entire staff. We waited to be seated very patiently close to 15 minutes with no one in front of us and the lobby completely empty. Several members of the waitstaff looked us dead in the eyes numerous times, but wouldn't even acknowledge our presence, let alone seat us or let us know that someone would be with us shortly. We saw the sign from the road and the outside looked outdated. However, sometimes appearance are deceiving. That is an understatement for Diehl’s. The walls inside are adorned with license plates, NASCAR photos, memorabilia as well as cowboy film stars and memorabilia. It’s totally different. Had been wanting to go there for many years as I saw it was close to the Mardi Gras Casino, but mostly because Diehl is my maiden name, but as far as I know, we are not related. If you want a hot, home made family style meal, this is the place to go. Lots of choices and our waitress could not have been nicer. When a mistake was made with our order, we did not say anything, but they picked up on it in the kitchen and they brought us the correct meal without us even asking. We enjoyed lunch so much we came back for dinner and ate every bite both meals! I wish they were in my hometown. Every single thing was delicious: salad, fried chicken, hot rolls, mashed potatoes with or without gravy, green beans, apples, fantastic coleslaw and amazing chocolate pie! Don’t miss this gem of a hometown restaurant.
