I live in Vermont and come to MTL a LOT. But while I use the nearby Metro more or less every visit and have no doubt walked by the (Admittedly hard to find) entrance to this place dozens of times, it took a night out...with a friend who lives nearby to visit. WOW, and I glad I did, and I will be back. Often. Great vegan and vegetarian food, amazing bar and staff. Quirky, Bohemian decor. Hip but totally welcoming, the friendly, bi-lingual staff easily handling my English, the bar tender easily joking with me and guiding my choice on my friend's wine choice and my desire for good local brews. spent christmas here with some fun folk music, while enjoy delicious special menu, the french wobbler suppe and a selection plate with some bruschetta cured kicherbsen muhamarra salat grilled vegetables. also got an alcohol-free spicy cocktail that so-...so all in all cost me about 20 with lace. the vibe is artsy and chill. it seems like nothing from outside and hard to find in the night, but inside it is quite hip quirky that I love. they are only cash, with a cash machine in which costs a flat $2 fee.

go here to hear free jazz music while enjoying beer and good pub eating. l’escalier (in English, stairs is a top floor venue', which some of the best local jazz (and other musical) talent in montreal. there is no confluence fee and drinks and eating. are affordable. this off-the-beaten spot for tourist or local montrealer is ideal to hear jazz for 5-7 cocktails or a casual meal. it is centrally located, a block behind the music business archambault (berri metro.) very friendly and professional staff!

I get a beer here every time I come to Montreal. I love the oddly matched chairs and the writing on the tables and that lamp in the corner. And the little corners with old chairs and cushions! I love it! Book a table now

Great place for the hipsters. Excellent live music bands come there. Very lively, good selection of food and drinks. Also a great place hangout with friends to meet new people too. I love this place.

Loved this place. Good local beer. Samosa that I had with hummus was amazing. Very small portion though. Highly recommend for a quick energizing stop. Book a table now

Came here on a Satuday around 6:30-7pm. Place was pretty empty. First thing is to get a table, then a menu.
