Food was good, but it was an unpleasant experience. We went there on a Friday night around 8pm, it was still full of people, but the sushi train was quite empty. It seems like we have to order everything from the menu, we firstly ordered grilled scallops and have been told they don't have any scallops on a Friday night. Then we tried to order two scampi, luckily we got our scampi. When we tried to order the scampi again, we have been told they don't have scampi today(we just had TWO!), same words as what we have been told when we order the scallops. We will not come back again.

Makoto is really unique because they serve a large variety of fresh fish daily as nigiri, most of which are delicious and quite hard to find at any other sushi train. Also one of the few restaurants in Sydney that have otoro and chutoro, and is actually quite cheap at lunch ($3 a piece most days). $5 udon is incredible value and fish soup is great as well. Overall a very authentic sushi train and the selection reminds me alot of Japan. However I think if you don't appreciate raw fish this place will not seem like anything special.

For years before I moved to Chatswood, Makoto was the jewel on the sushi crown in Sydney for me - fresh, tasty, generous. Just perfect. Nothing is the same now unfortunately, after they've changed management (from my observation). Now it's just a normal sushi train with decent fish soup. Yes, can't go wrong with the fish soup at a sushi place!

Very fussy with my sushi. The selection here wasn't nice. I don't do raw, ordered a seared salmon and it may as well been raw. Ordered the $5 karaage udon. Just warm chicken but decent for $5 Will stick to my usual place. Was only passing but cause it was so busy I expected better
