My fiancé and I are frequent McBride attendees and wanted to spend NYE having some beer and wings before the NYE crowd came through. We walked in around 6:45pm to no greeting or acknowledgement and sat down at a high top table. Typically, the bartender would walk over to the table to take our order, but after a few minutes of sitting there, we realized that was not the case tonight. So I took my fiancés debit card and walked up to the bar and waited for the Older blonde haired bartender with glasses to finish taking her shot with another customer before she made her way to me. My daughter and I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch around 12:30; it was not busy, at all. There was a someone at the bar that did not greet us. When I asked him if they were open he did acknowledge me and said yes but kept his back behind us. We waited about 10 minutes and I asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else because I knew she was hungry. The person by the bar said he would be with us in a few minutes and made us wait another 10 minutes…no water, no menus, nothing.Being from the area we were disappointed on how we were treated so we left and never coming back.
A friend and I came here on St Patrick's day. Every other local Irish place was busy and this place was too, but the guy on the phone when we called ahead said he'd get us in. He did! We sat right down at a table for 2 when we walked in. The environment was just what we were looking for a bit loud and lots of people. The food was delicious. We both got the special for st pats day corn beef and cabbage and potatoes.
Calvin is fantastic! He even treated me to a free shot a couple of times—once because my order was taking longer than expected and another while we were chatting about life. He's very approachable and really knows how to connect with people. Karaoke night is a blast; the woman in the DJ booth plays awesome music that perfectly fits the crowd. I highly recommend trying the empanadas and pretzels!
