My wife and I had booked a Chinese meal on the 28th September and were looking for somewhere to have some drinks prior to the meal and my wife spotted the Mercat opposite the Chinese which was absolutely perfect for us. We ordered a Cider and a Peroni and the barmaid Stacey told us to find a table and she would bring the drinks over to us. Whilst enjoying our drinks we kept seeing lovely meals being taken to vsrious tables and they all looked exceptional, very well presented and you could clearly see that everyone was really enjoying them and the lovely background music being played. We both agreed that we would return on the followimg evening and try the food as it really looked too good to...
When we're traveling we usually try to go several different places for our meals. We ended up at this bar and kitchen for breakfast many times during a week visit. The full Scottish breakfast was brilliant. The staff, Alice and Logan, were so kind and helpful. The setting was perfectly delightful with doors open to the pavement and the sun streaming in. This place was only a block and a bit from our hotel, and was just overall lovely.
Meeting up with friends for Drinks and Lunch, been to a couple of places and passed here at Lunchtime, glad we dropped in. Friendly bar staff, quickly provided drinks and menus. Great selection, and the food when it came looked good and was really tasty. Good value for money. When we were there they had an open jamming session, 4 guys, playing great songs and entertaining us, we came for the food and stayed for the music.
Last week it was 5 stars this week it was 1. An average of 3. Asked for a big breakfast got what they wanted to give us and when I complained gave some extras but still not what was ordered. Challenged the server to be told I had what I asked for. This was not what I ordered. Poor customer service and unperturbed when I stated we would not be back. Word of mouth is a great advertisement or negative.

Had a fabby night out there with a group of colleagues who all agreed that the place was a true find. Food was excellent and the prices are fair. Can't fault the staff as they were polite and attentive. We will be visiting again soon.
Head bar person arrogant, lofty and bullying to 2 ladies approaching their seventies an Sunday March afternoon/evening 5 March 2pm to7pm. Would he have adopted that attitude to his Granny or tolerated it to his Granny? Don't think so.
Fabulous place. Visited with my family for drinks and food and spent an enjoyable afternoon during the open Mic session. Friendly staff-served by Elena and food great. Lovely atmosphere.
Scott had a glowing personality and served the best French martini I’ve had in Scotland! Highly recommend visiting this bar while in Edinburgh!
