Merkado is a casual upscale Mexican food eatery located blocks away from Oracle Park in San Francisco. They have small plates and minimal main dishes. (Minimal meaning they don't come with beans or rice. I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas. My plate contained only the enchiladas. When you visit, look up at the lighting fixture on the ceiling. The steel lantern was made in Guadalajara and shipped to SF. When it arrived, it was too big to fit in the front doors, so they brought it in through the window space. Personable staff, clean restrooms, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant. Get the guac to have with your chips, and wash it down with a margarita.
I fell in love with the interior design and vibe of Merkado. Although the music selection wasn't really what I was expecting. We actually mentioned it to the staff and they changed it to latin/Spanish music. This place is very big and it has a backroom that almost looks like it could be a club. We ordered some appetizers which were good. I loved the salsas and guacamole that came with the chips. Although we didn't order them, our server made it seem like the chips and salsa were free and asked if we wanted some, but we were charged for for them. The chips that came with the ceviche were super good. This place is beautiful and can be so great!
The food is excellent. Best chili rellano I've had; not traditional Tex mex. Cheesy, spicy, very good sauce and the roasted veggies were delicious. Tasted as thought the rellano and veggies were fire roasted adding a wonderful smoky taste. The bowl of chips was enormous and mild and spicy salsas were tasty. Also enjoyed the Argentine Chardonnay. Fast service and really interesting interior. Would definitely return for the wonderful food.
Went here after a baseball game. They managed to keep up a high level of service even tho every table was full. The food is really good. Everyone was happy with every thing. The guac is a good portion for a table of 6 casual gauc eaters. The meats werefresh and tasty. I really liked the watermelon basil auga fresca. The habanero salsa has peanuts in it so heads up. I didn'tdrink but the tequila selection was vast.

Food was good. But the service is ok. They served us the main course without bringing the appetizers we ordered. We had to remind them. Also, they didn't even clear our plates before serving us the dessert. Felt like none of them were interested to work ?
Very nice restaurant with a bar and private room for eventz. The food was great! My favorite was the ceviche. However, the Carne asada was also great. They have a large selection of tequila and mezcal.
Surprisingly really good food! Lots of corporate events here, so food being genuinely good was very surprising. Especially compared to other taco places that are more expensive.
Food is great everything is fresh starting with the mixed drinks they're amazing! Tortillas are hand made and the carnitas are a must try.

It's different. Very loud and very slow service. Don't be expecting your typical tex-mex because that's not this at all.
Great place for some amazing Mexican food. The vegetarian options were delicious.
