We chose the Wednesday evening dining as it is BYO wine with a very reasonable $5.50 corkage charge and enjoyed a lovely bottle of chardonnay which perfectly complemented our meal. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and vibrance of this local italian restaurant. Warmly greeted by Wim the waiter the first thing that hit us was the flash of cooking flame from the open kitchen and the comforting aroma of charred onion/garlic pervading the room. Seated by the window the patronage was mixed, a child's birthday party behind us, a senior table of four to our left and two to our right. So so so expensive, One adult meal and two kids meals, a small lemonade and apple juice, $90 wow. The kids pizza, 4 small pieces and it was $15.50! WTF? The kids carbonara under cooked penne pasta with a truck load of thick rick creamy sauce and very little bacon.. again $15’50. Yes that is a kids meal!!! The chicken schnitzel with chips and salad at $27 was ridiculous. The salad was over dressed and inedible, the chicken schnitzel was burnt in parts and soggy in others. The pizza such a small pizza I came home and had to feed my son more! $4.50 for a very small tumbler of apple Juice wow what a fricken rip off...... never again. I am a long term visitor to this restaurant since I used to live in the area. My Entertainment Book 2 for 1 voucher is expiring this weekend. They wouldn't let me use it for takeaway for the exact same items as I would order if I dined in despite the restaurant being closed. I drove over 20 KMs to use this voucher so it was incredibly frustrating. When I called a few weeks earlier, I was told I could use it for takeaway so something has changed. This restaurant is off my list and I won't be returning.
We are visiting Melbourne from NZ. We went on a Wednesday night so that we could take our own wine. This gave us variety to match the menu. The staff were helpful with menuu selections. I enjoyed the king prawn entree. They were not the largest king prawns but the flavour was great. The lamb rump special for the day was superbly cooked and great with an Aussie Shiraz. I heard glowing reports about the salmon dishes too as well as the seafood risotto. We will return next time we visit Melbourne
