Miss Mabel's has taken over the space that was once Gus' and although it was my favorite spot for fried chicken, it still satisfies the craving. The chicken remains juicy, and the sides are pretty much the same as before. You can't go wrong with the seasoned fries, and their coleslaw is excellent too. They also serve a refreshing half-and-half drink. They've introduced various spice levels to cater to different tastes, but let me be honest—the "frat boy spicy" is not very hot. I actually wish it were spicier. If you can handle heat reasonably well, you should be fine with it. Despite that, it's still the best fried chicken in the College Park area. It's a true gem for anyone attending the Un...

I 've done some Nashville chicken type dishes at home because I like the flavor profile. Ruby Tuesday 's has a nice Nashville hot sauce but I 've never specifically had Nashville Hot Chicken in a restaurant as these spots are few and far in between in the area. Enter Miss Mabel 's. I was in the College Park area on business and decided to give it a try. I ordered two breasts Frat Boy hot their hottest level. For a little over 10 bucks that 's a good deal. I was skeptical at first, but the spice and hotness level was there, the skin was crispy and the meat juicy and flavorful to the bone. Very nice. Good customer service and experience with the bar and all of the visuals with a decidedly south...

I'm looking forward to being in the area again, I enjoyed my Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich so much and the heat from the Comeback sauce on that perfect sandwich was meant to be quenched by nothing other than the house sweet tea. The chicken sandwich was huge! I loved how it was piping hot, not at all greasy, crispy, made of high quality/clean (not fatty) white meat, and not soggy (even though there was a fair amount of delicious coleslaw and zesty pickles on it). I loved the toasted brioche bun it was served on as well. The service I received from Jessica was superb and I especially appreciated being told that the spicer chicken sandwich sauces were lard based. Eating pork-free, I needed t...

MASK VIOLATIONS. The two chefs in the food prep area, all in black, were not properly masked. One was wearing a chin strap-mouth and nose both exposed. The other had his nose fully exposed. There was a management type seated at the counter facing right at them in a white Davidson sweatshirt. I did not have time on my lunch hour or I would have gone elsewhere. I ordered the half smoke from the Burger and Sandwich menu for carry out. The sausage was excellent. The roll became soggy with the mustard and I recommend mustard on the side for carry out. It's a shame, what could have been 4 Star became a 1 Star out of apathy. Book a table now

I had a hot chicken sandwich here and I had it somewhere else where I live in California. The sandwich I had in California had a better crust it was a bigger sandwich overall just tasted better. They need to work on the recipe the crust is not much of a spicy hot chicken crust, the sauce they is runny and they don't give you that much coleslaw. I don't think their sandwich is bad but at $15 it's way over priced. I wouldn't buy it again.

Im not sure if there under new management but todays food was terrible. my chicken sandwich was not crispy or cooked all the way. My lemonade had greens in it my fries was in a greasy bag . I have never had my food this way until today and i eat there about 3-4 times a month.

My office was sad to see that Gus's closed but were encouraged by the reviews for Mabel's and they didn't steer us wrong! Everything was delicious especially the chicken and pimento Mac n Cheese. The greens, fries and okra were also hits. A great addition to the area.

No surprise here—they've closed! This place was fantastic until they decided to change from Gus's to Mabel's, thinking they could do better. I really wish someone would open a Gus's franchise in the DC area; I would definitely be a regular, as it truly is the best! Book a table now

Service is slow and chaotic. Oh, service also comes with a side of attitude and possibly COVID since kitchen staff weren't wearing masks. You are better off going to Popeyes which doesn't say much for the future of this restaurant.
