I thoroughly enjoyed every dish that was served. The first dish was the Salt and Pepper Prawns, which were beautifully prepared and truly stood out. The spices were subtle, allowing the fresh flavor of the prawns to shine through. The outer crust was wonderfully crispy, while the inside was tender and juicy. Next, we tried the 3 Cup Chicken, which was equally delicious and flavorful. Both dishes were perfectly complemented by the Shanghai fried noodles, which had an amazing taste and texture. Mr. Chen is definitely a restaurant worth visiting.
The food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is lovely. However, with only two other tables occupied, the server awkwardly interrupted what was supposed to be a heartfelt, romantic conversation between my girlfriend and me during our pre-Valentine's lunch. Despite this, I still highly recommend the place and give it 5 stars, although that experience did leave me a bit unsettled.
I haven't enjoyed Chinese food this good in a long time. The pork belly, soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and roasted rice were all fantastic. The quality of the food is nearly on par with Joe Shanghai in Chinatown. If you're searching for excellent Chinese cuisine without heading to Chinatown, this place should definitely be at the top of your list.
It was a great experience. The decor was beautiful because the painting they had over the walls. The food was good. We order beef soup, salt and pepper wings, chicken pan roasted dumplings. The staff was nice and friendly. Pork belly, very interesting.
