Everyone knows Mr Wong's. But who knows Mr Chow's? Well, I am glad I do because it is just as good without the fanfare. The kind of place you go to for the food. And oh my, what good food it serves up! Preorder the chicken wonton soup. It is like nothing you would have ever had before. Brewed with real Chinese herbs in the traditional method. It is simply sublime. Warming, flavoursome. The only 'downside' is you get so full after it you can't really order the Peking down as well, unless you are with at least 4-5 others. The service is pretty good, they are attentive but not sophisticated and definitely not pretentious. The decor is a bit old, but you don't feel like you can't put your han...

Mr Chow is our favourite Northern Chinese restaurant in the city. Their steamed pork dumplings are juicy and tasty, their whole tea smoked duck is fabulous, crispy duck, soft bun and sweet spicy sauce. The lovely staff their recommended the smoked duck to us and we ordered that same dish every time since then. Recommended for people who wants to try peking duck with a twist. The salted egg yolk snow crab was great. The drunken chicken was full of aroma of Chinese white wine. Please leave room for dessert. Their Soffle ball with red bean is not a thing you can try many other places. Kids would love Toffle banana. It's located in the rocks where you can find on street parking quite easily...
Been here numerous times for dinner , service is always attentive, and food is always consistent. It's location is abit of a hidden gem. Always manage to find a park just outside the restaurant. If seated by the window, u get beautiful views of the Harbour, perfect for a romantic nite. They are famous for their smoked whole duck which is served sliced with steam buns. I can see this dish is for those of an acquired taste, as I wasn't a fan the first time I had it but now love it. The smoke flavor is quite strong. The drunken chicken is a traditional Chinese dish and they make it very nicely. Always happy to go here.
This restaurant has experienced a number of changes over the years. For those that either posted, or have read negative comments, you really need to try Mr Chow's now! The food is back to its high standard. The number of large Asian heritage groups celebrating Chinese New Year is testament to this. The service is also great...a big step up from some of the previous staff. Highly recommended...don't miss the seafood egg roll or the Peking duck!!! Book a table now
I arrived on my own after 2pm for a late lunch. There was only one other table of diners. I asked to sit at a table with a harbour view. The waitress said it was a table for four. I pointed out the restaurant was empty and since they shut in less than an hour my taking a larger table should not be a problem. I was refused the table so I left. A shame - but if this is their attitude to customers I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
The peking duck was average, nothing special. Pork in the foil didn't have lots of flavours, meat was not tender. Too much hidden fee ($3 tea pp, min $30 or you have to pay $30 even if your bill is below that). We dined in with groupon voucher, the bill was finally $27 but we had to pay $30. They called it "surcharge" :) Not recommend to anyone and will never ever come back. There are a lot of better restaurants out there :)
Decor is not going wow anyone but is comfortable and light, it's the food- it's really good. Crispy duck and pancakes are shredder rolled for you at the table, crispy beef, Peking rice, salt and pepper ribs all delicious, Portions are big- we took the rest away. Must try in Sydney!
Average food and below average service. Dishes were lack of flavours. Peking duck tastes normal, not special as advertised. I ignored some bad reviews and still came here, and I was so regret dining there. Never come back! Book a table now
