I visited this place with family before a show at the Canberra Theatre Centre. The decor is pleasant and the staff are welcoming, attentive and efficient. We were encouraged to order promptly by the head waitress, who knew the theatre starting times. She assured us that we would not be rushed through our meal. She also helped with the number of dishes ordered so that we didn't over or under order. She was spot on.I have not eaten food like this at a Chinese restaurant since dining at the Imperial Peking in Sydney many years ago. The food at Mr Wei's is not quite as upmarket but for a pre-theatre meal, it was superb. I enjoyed every dish, especially the baby eggplant. We didn't try the duck. N...

We found this place after checking out several other Chinese restaurants around Canberra City and decided to try them out as it was very clean and full of customers - always a good sign! We ordered the Crispy Chicken in Golden Sands, Pan-fried Vegetarian Dumplings and Veg Fried Rice to share. The outstanding winner was the Crispy Chicken without a doubt - the flavours all came together and worked nicely with the fresh lettuce cups. The only disappointment I found was that we were not offered fresh bowls after the entree, which would have been preferable as the Crispy Chicken was quite 'crumby'. Also, soy sauce was served in a small bowl with a teaspoon rather than a bottle, which made it d...
We found this while filling in 30 minutes until a performance at the nearby Canberra Theatre Centre. It was a bit of a shop-front cafe, not a place to visit for its atmosphere, but it had a good menu at reasonable prices and could provide a meal in under 30 minutes. The food was of a surprisingly high standard with beautifully cooked noodles. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a really good meal while waiting for the show to begin, with good service and reasonable prices.
Food is not all 'traditional' Chinese which makes it interesting. The restaurant has quite a classy but still practical feel about it, attention from staff is faultless. It's strengths are proximity to Canberra Theatre and speed of service, just the thing if you want a quick meal before the show. But it would be quite nice for a longer indulgence too. BYO would have been better value than the wine offerings we had, but there is a large range available. Book a table now
Great little place in town. Ducked in for a nice quiet lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this little gem. Wasn't too busy when I was there which was great. Food was really good which was a shock given the lack of patronage? I suppose it may have been due to time of day and year.
Service was great, Food was terrible call it Chinese don't think so, mix lettuce topped with 5 shredded beef that was a joke, pork dumping some were cold, most rock hard. Didn't enjoy our anniversary dinner before the show.
Went to Mr Wei and had a fabulous meal. The golden sands chicken was our starter followed by the delicious eggplant stack. This is the best Chinese I have had since I returned from China. Will be back very soon.
A great spot for a casual weeknight meal. We tried a few their dishes (see photos), and standouts really were their dumplings. I enjoyed both boiled and fried pork dumplings. Yum! Book a table now
Have to say this is the best Chinese style restaurant I have ever dined at. Service was awesome, wine list well matched and the food spectacular.
Meal and service was very good despite being very busy. Meal and drinks arrived promptly and was reasonably priced.

"I recently visited Canberra for the first time and tried Dosa Hut for the first time. I must say, we had the best curry and chicken fried rice here. The flavors were amazing and absolutely delicious."

"Comfortable, clean, attentive service. The portions can be inconsistent. I ordered the Avocado bruschetta, unfortunately it was drowning in a heavy balsamic thickened sauce which totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the avocado"
