I’d walked past Mum’s Table a few times so I decided I’d drop in for a quick meal before heading out to the airport. The restaurant was really quiet when I walked in which wasn’t a very positive signal. Mum herself was at the counter...and strongly recommended the pho, noting it came with two free spring rolls. I wasn’t exactly enthused about the idea of the two free spring rolls as a restaurant that serves a great bowl of pho doesn’t need to offer free spring rolls but as I was always going to order the pho, I went with her recommendation and ordered the pho dac biet. Table for one please Yes, It was all for Me and yes, I ate it all. Mums Table is a popping place, especially at around Lunch time for those having their min break. This rush didn’t stop the host from greeting me with...a big smile and asking me what I wanted to eat. I ordered Mum’s Special Pho and Prawn and Pork Paw Paw And both were very fresh and tasty. Although the food was tasty, I felt the portion sizes were slightly a smidge to small for the price. I guess I’m used to the large bowls they serve everywhere else. The Paw Paw Prawn and Pork salad was also nice but felt they were trying to save a buck by slicing the prawns in half to give the illusion there were many, when in reality there...
Had passed by there a number of times and finally took the plunge. Turned out to be a good decision. A very good decision indeed. Mum can be a bit gruff but the food (which you order at the counter and then it is brought...to you by the cooks) is quite good. Not necessarily as in refined but as in decent and authentic and very edible indeed. Fairly generous, too. They are byo. The place is surprisingly large, decorated in a spartan way but they get extra points for the real plants on the table. I like that kind of attenion to detail. late lunch today, and I decided to have a rare bark, brisket and meatballpho. the filling was generous, much thin cut bark meat, some delicious meatballs and cut brisket also. To be honest, it is not rare bark because it is so thin cut and quickly cooked to serve. the Pho-bread on the bowl. but it is still good dish, and if they press the keile of lime, in which usually served with lemon broth become more alive! I do not agree to the price of the Vietnamese ice coffee, I pay 3⁄4 full coffee over many ice cubes. not happy!

fantastic Vietnamese food and as a celiac was pampered for the choice. Mother herself helped me to choose us when we were at the end of the meal at our table and had a chat, telling us their history and the history of the place. had the shrimps...and dizzying paper rolls, chicken and fried rice, all delicious. this is one of the companies that was very hurt by the years and years of lightweight construction. hoping now that the light rail is up and running that the dinge for mum improve!
I met an old friend for lunch today. we have chosen a local restaurant near our offices (and about a minute walk from the main railway station in surry hills). mum’s table serves traditional Vietnamese home cooking and street food at very affordable prices from banh mi to various types of pho and everything in between. the mains are at a reasonable price and are very filled. service is friendly and fast and they are open for lunch and dinner.
my friend and I went to a rainy day and we found exactly what we needed. a beautiful and relaxed place to eat with great value for money! we shared early roles and everyone had a suppe and absolutely enjoyed it from. start to finish. the waiting time was short, the portion sizes were great and especially everything was great! we have table water and icy of a caffeine as well as without paying more. really nice, highly recommended!
Better Beef Pho than I had in Saigon or Hi Chi Minh. I love everything on the menu...t's home cooking! Great family run restaurant...service is friendly and efficient. BYO wine too... very reasonable prices! This is definitely one not to be missed!

I ordered a beef soup and I even received free veggie springrolls. It was delicious. Certainly one of the best meals i ever had. I will be back for sure!
