This is a fantastic place to spend some time. The service is exceptional - friendly, quick and they will do whatever is required to fulfil your request, from food to drinks. The menu was the best I have ever seen and tasted. It was really cheap compared to prices you would pay on the mainland for the same type of meals. The wagyu beef meals were absolutely beautiful and the menu was so good that we made a return visit the next night. There was a fabulous band playing at the other end of the hotel which played fantastic music. Both nights made our trip to Hobart one to remember.
Came for lunch and two dinner in Hobart on vacation with my husband. Fantastic place, it can not recommend it high enough. Really knowledgeable, passionate staff who would like to discuss food and drinks with them, and they make really creative things. It is a real enjoyment. Great ambience, very relaxed and restless atmussion. Some of the meal highlights were - Wagyu-beef strips with bread and lard (they flames it in front of them, and it's so damn delicious), octopus buttons, artichoke taster, tea smoked duck and the salted caramel, peanut and coconut parfait. . Yummmmm.
As well as the charming qualities of the building and the band playing, it is the service staff that excel this place beyond five circles. Attentive, informative charismatic are a few words to describe the staff.The owner of the establishment has put together top quality staff and the staff should be commended on their quality daily. Food was pretty good as well. The fried custard was particularly tasty and even though the other half hates ginger, he was a convert on this dish. Easily a return trip and five circles for them.
Food: Excellent - 1. The rib is huge, as big as my arm and it's delicious. Even the potato and the pickle come well. 2. The crispy pork ears are interesting, better than what they would expect. 3. Broccoli is also good and comes with almonds and other beautiful aromas. Grief

Wow, we came across this pub after a recommendation from Lark's Distillery. As you walk in you are feel the amazing atmosphere, the barman who served us was incredibly knowledgeable and due to this we got to find a new favorite drink, shiraz gin. The food was fantastic and I know I will be back again on my visit to Hobart. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Was in Hobart for a holiday with Claire Bakker and we came across this jewel. The best pub food we had in extremely long time. Tasted amazing, portion sizes were huge, amazing value, friendly staff, fast service and great atmosphere. We absolutely have no complaints. The next time we are back in Hobart, we will definitely come here again.
Great pub - roaring fire inside to keep you warm, play great music (perfect volume also) and a comprehensive selection of beer beer. The best thing about this place is the food! We had sharp crispy chicken and a side of chips - so crispy and presents beautiful. I would recommend to stop for a beer and eat a bite! Grief
Well gotta say Jack was right. Had a terrific steak cooked perfectly and the beer. What a selection. Staff were great as well was able to sample a beautiful stout and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. If 6 stars was available I would give them that!

Great food from this classic old pub. Spectacular wagu rump and wide selection of local beers on TAP - A must do if you are one or many.
