I love old J and have been supporting them for a long time. This review is for the catering that we recently had done by them. The food was great and the portions are large. If you’re worried about the amount Old J hedges on the way more side than the less. My specific intention for this review was to give Old J feedback that they did not provide serving utensils. The utensils provided (for normal eating; a plastic spoon, fork, knife, w/ napkin packet) made serving difficult and frustrating. Something tells me they forgot the utensils. If you’re ordering catering consider bringing your own. Ordering the food and lead time seem to be no problem at all. These guys seem capable of pulling cater...

It's a little humbling to think you've been eating pretty good quality Middle Eastern food at Ali Baba's and Truly Med and then you go to a place like Old Jerusalem and are just blown away. Like the other two, Old Jerusalem is a very unpretentious restaurant, taking more pride in their authentic dishes than decor but OJ just is a notch above in terms of quality and offerings. I was there with 5 friends and we ordered quite a feast: succulent shawerma, fresh baba ghanoush, perfectly seasoned and grilled kifta kabob, and plenty of flavorful hummus. It all went by in such a blur of delicious, we devoured everything on our plates seemingly in a few moments. The service was friendly and family-or...
This place is weird. If you order a pita sandwich it will actually be a burrito. The food was edible but not good at all. The menu on the website does not match the actual menu. The lady was very friendly speaking Spanish to the customer in front of us but then immediately rude when she turned to us speaking English. She could have spoken Spanish to us too but she just made assumptions. We ordered chicken shawarma sandwiches and a falafel pita pocket. They all came in tortillas, no pita about it. The chicken was drenched in tumeric, you cannot taste anything but tumeric. The falafel was in weird little chunks. We stay in the neighborhood but will not return.
Feels like the real place you would be in when traveling in the Middle East. If you want that experience here in the US then this place, what it offers is that. Great service great food. The tea that they keep pouring in your glass is another wonderful thing. Visit this place and try any of the food, I had shawerma plate and my friend had a shish kabab plate, it was delicisous. Ordered takeout through DoorDash, and was disappointed as this place is raved about. We ordered the lentil soup (which was the tastiest item ordered), pita, hummus and the meat combo with rice. The meat and rice were bland, and the hummus was very average. Would be open to trying again because the food wasn’t inedible and it is raved about, so maybe it was an ‘off day’.
Amazing food hadn't been back in several years which was my mistake. Lamb fetta (hummus and meat) was killer with pita, though the chicken kabobs were also quite good. Very friendly staff, quick service. We left with plenty of leftovers ordering three dishes for two people.
One of my favorite San Francisco restaurants, and I had discovered it walking by on Mission Street one day. The food is high quality and the services is excellent! The price for the amount of food you get is also great! Every time I’ve come it’s been amazing!
delicious shawarma plates with tender meats and generous servings of hummus. pita bread came nice and hot which i appreciate. i got the beef plate and had to pack half of it back because the portion size was so big. the kanafa was also great! Book a table now
The restaurant is clean, the food is excellent, delicious, the dishes are varied, and the price is reasonable. Thank you to the owner of the restaurant
Okay shawarma and soup , but not freshly out of rotisserie and unfortunately the worst kunafa experience I’ve ever had
