I really wanted to like this restaurant, and I have to say, the food was really delicious. However, the service was absolutely awful. The deep fryer broke while we were there, but we were not informed until after we had already been waiting for an hour for our appetizers. We had ordered raw oysters, which could have been served first, but that did not happen. We ended up waiting a total of 2 hours for all of our food to arrive, each dish coming out at different times. I have always loved the food and the service at On The Lam, ever since it opened. By far the best burgers, until recently. About a month ago we went with another couple to finely enjoy an evening out. I had the beef cheeks that were too salty to eat. I tried my husbands burger which was also way too salty. We needed a jug of water and some anti-hypertensives following the meal. We decided to give it another shot and booked dinner for 5 of us. It seemed a little pricey for sitting at picnic tables and being swarmed by yellow jackets the entire time. My granddaughter was stung and my daughter pulled out her epi-pen and reviewed with everyone how to use in case she got stung. Needles to say it...
Fourth visit here. First two visits very good experience. Last visit served to reinforce my decision after the third to give it a pass going forward. Food good but very expensive as every item is 'ala cart '. Expect an entree with two sides to approach 50.00 per person plus appetizer, wine, dessert etc. Lost our reservation and advised we had been a 'no show ' from the previous night. Music far too loud and got louder as the evening wore on. Service slow to come, and waitress interrupted order taking by answering the phone.
Very expensive, spent for people. When the server came and asked how everything was we mentioned one of our plates were cold and the meat wasn't cooked as asked. She suddenly turned from nice to indignant. You could tell she wasn't happy with us for the rest of the evening. The food was good but for the price it could have been spectacular. This is about the only truly classy AND trendy place I can think of to go in Brantford, whether for dinner, or just drinks. The place is funky and easy to miss unless you are looking for it. When considering a meal in this town, all other restaurants are stacked up against On The Lam.
The service at this restaurant was excellent and the food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and provided impressive service. Perfect for a special celebration.
